RoSPA President's Award

We are delighted to have been awarded the highly prestigious President's Award 2014 from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (R0SPA). Only a handful of organisations receive the honour each year - which recognises 10 consecutive years of achieving RoSPA's Gold standard for occupational health and safety. To be eligible we had to submit detailed evidence of our site work, risk assessment processes, staff and overall health & safety record. The judges also considered our overarching occupational health & safety management systems including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. Michelle Boylan, our Health & Safety Advisor said: "To win RoSPA's President's Award is an incredible achievement and speaks volumes of the health & safety culture within the company.  The award is seen as the pinnacle within occupational health & safety and the standard for other companies to aspire towards.  For a company of our size to receive the award is a great honour as the usual recipients are large multi-national businesses."

Collecting our Award

We were delighted to collect our 'Big Tick' at the Business In The Community Awards held at the Gosforth Marriott, Gateshead.  Several members of our staff attended the event and the award for 'Inspiring Young Talent' was collected by company owners Dan Robinson, Judith Robinson and Richie Summers who is now a Trainee Estimator following on from completing his Joinery Trade qualifications with the company.

Hospice Holistic Wellbeing Centre Opens

The £550,000 facility we recently completed will provide a range of care and complimentary therapies freeing up space in the existing Hospice building which opened in 2004. The Holistic Wellbeing Centre, which was designed around a maritime theme by architects PMK Design Associates, was completed in just six months and will be followed by further expansion to provide six new private bedrooms. The facility was officially opened by Dan Robinson, Chairman of Gus Robinson Developments, and Lorna Jones, who is the daughter of the Hospice’s founder Alice Bendle. Dan said: “It was an immense privilege to work on this project because everybody who is associated with Hartlepool knows how much the Hospice means to the town and its residents. What strikes me every time I visit the Hospice is the dignity and compassion of the staff – it really is inspiring. “Rarely have we worked on a project that has engaged staff as much as this one has. It’s a beautiful building, marvellous inside and marvellous outside with a fantastic design. We are all really looking forward to Phase 2.” Tracy Woodall, Chief Executive at Hartlepool and District Hospice, said: “It really is a beautiful building of such high quality and design. Gus Robinson Developments has completed the work so professionally and their staff were friendly and courteous at all times on site. “It’s fantastic that we have been able to use a Hartlepool business to complete the construction project. The majority of our funding comes from the people of the town so it’s good that we have been able to repay that by supporting the local economy.”

BIG TICK WINNERS

We are delighted to announce that we have been recognised with a 'Big Tick' as part of the prestigious Responsible Business Awards 2014, which are run by the charity Business in the Community. The 'Big Tick' is the first level of accolade in the Responsible Business Awards, the UK's longest running and most respected awards scheme recognising  businesses that are making a positive difference to society and the environment. We achieved the 'Big Tick' award in the 'Inspiring Young Talent' category which aims to recognise businesses that address youth unemployment and the UK skills gap by using 'youth friendly' recruitment practices, inspiring work experience programmes and accessible routes to successful working lives such as apprenticeships.

CENE WINNERS

Friday night saw the company receive TWO awards at the prestigious Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards 2014. Not only did we receive the 'Leadership & People Development' award but also the 'SME of the Year' award - the second time we have been bestowed with this accolade in two years! A fantastic achievement and '"Well Done" to all of the team - these achievements are not possible without the hard work of everyone at Gus Robinsons.

Monmouth Grove scheme in Hartlepool has been shortlisted in the Residential Category of the RICS Renaissance Awards 2014

The award honours an outstanding residential development by demonstrating its success across a number of criteria including;

• How popular the scheme has been to prospective purchasers / occupiers.
• Integration into the surrounding community.
• How the scheme has acted as a catalyst for economic activity in the area.
• How innovative design has contributed to the success of the scheme.
• The use of sustainable development principles providing benefits to the scheme.

At the recent judges visit, all 3 members of the panel commented on the outstanding quality of the scheme and in particular the high specification and quality of finish provided by the Gus Robinson team.

The scheme also provided added community benefit through the renovation of a gymnasium at the Gus Robinson HQ. The renovation of the Gym was funded from profits made from the Monmouth Grove scheme to provide a community facility offering health and wellbeing activities for local people.

The Gus Robinson team are now waiting with baited breath for the awards ceremony on the 25th of April to see if the Monmouth Grove scheme will be crowned Residential Scheme of the year.
