GRD Awarded Hartlepool LEA Partnering Contract 2010 – 2012

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Gus Robinson Developments Limited (GRD) are delighted to announce that we have been successfully appointed as one of the two main contractors within the Hartlepool Local Education Authority (LEA) framework for 2010 – 2012, Planned Maintenance & Minor Building Works.

There was fierce competition for this highly sought partnering contract, which had an initial shortlist of 27 contractors.  The contract covers all aspects of school maintenance, new build projects, extensions to existing buildings, alterations and refurbishments.  By utilising our in house building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical departments we are able to offer a streamlined service which can drastically reduce decision making time to the benefit of the projects.

GRD enjoy working within the education sector, thriving on the challenges and tight deadlines that are frequently associated with these contracts.  We gain great satisfaction from consistently delivering a high quality end product within tight time constraints that meet the needs of the School, the Pupils and the local Community.

When this contract is complete GRD will have worked in partnership with Hartlepool LEA for nine consecutive years.  This is testament to our ongoing commitment to partnering and the sensitivity that we continually demonstrate when working within the educational environment.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Hartlepool LEA for continuing the partnership with GRD and we look forward to working alongside such a prestigious client for many years to come.

Integration & Collaborative Working – Albany Court, Hartlepool

Following a great night at the prestigious ‘Constructing Excellence in the North East (CENE) Awards 2010’ we are extremely proud to announce that Gus Robinson Developments Limited (GRD), in partnership with Housing Hartlepool won the ‘Integration & Collaborative Working’ award for the refurbishment scheme at Albany Court.

Whilst the terrific working relationship between ourselves and Housing Hartlepool was acknowledged, great accord was given to the fact that the elderly tenants also remained in residence at all times whilst the £3.2m phased renovation works were carried out. This recognised that the end-users were also integral in helping achieve this award. This had also previously been noted by John Healey, the Housing Minister, who had visited the complex whilst works were ongoing.

The refurbishment of the complex now incorporates underfloor and air source heating, solar panels and rainwater harvesting which together with upgrades and alterations has vastly improved living conditions for this close-knit group of residents, as well as significantly reducing the environmental footprint of the building.

The award is a true testimony to our commitment to partnering and the quality service that we provide our clients.

As stated on the night “Judges looked for evidence of how workforce development has improved as a result of collaboration, long-term relationships and common processes and tools across organisations. Successful entries have shown the judges integration within their teams to such a level that they appear as a single entity to the customer, and evidence of how workforce development has improved as a result of collaboration.” – Twenty Ten Awards Programme

There was fierce competition within the Integration & Collaborative Working category, comprising a total of 10 nominated projects throughout the North East. As winners of this prestigious award the team will now progress to the national finals that are due to take place in the Autumn of 2010.

We are currently working on a similar scheme at Richard Court in Hartlepool for Housing Hartlepool, utilising the same collaborative approach to ensure that this sheltered housing complex is also an unrivalled success.

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

As part of our commitment to building a sustainable future, Gus Robinson Developments Limited (GRD) is now a proud member of the UK Green Building Council (UK-GBC).

The UK-GBC is helping to forge a new partnership between government, industry and other stakeholder groups. Working in partnership, GRD and UK-GBC share the same goals and are aiming to dramatically improve the sustainability of the built environment, by radically transforming the way it is planned, designed, constructed, maintained and operated.

Whether our work is in ‘new build’ or existing properties, we understand that we have a duty to maintain a low carbon footprint.  To address our obligations, we have committed to significantly reduce our emissions from greenhouse gases, improve our waste management and recycling procedures and reduce our consumption of natural resources.  By committing our company to ISO14001 we now have procedures in place that will directly measure and consistently reduce our carbon footprint. We are passionately committed to reducing the environmental impact of our ‘new build’ projects and we also incorporate these principles into the future retrofit of existing properties.
