Fighting off competition from over 8,000 fellow students, Caroline McCarroll collected a hat trick of awards at a prestigious awards ceremony held at the new £53m Hartlepool College of Further Education building in Stockton Street. The awards included:
- The Plumber of the Year Award 2011
- Apprentice of the Year Award 2011
- Student of The Year Award 2011
24 year old Caroline joined the company 3 years ago as an apprentice plumber. She had applied to over 140 companies in an attempt to gain an apprenticeship placement but Gus Robinson Developments were the first to offer her an interview and subsequently offered her an apprentice plumber position.
Immediately Caroline proved that she was a very hard worker and was very focussed on what she aimed to achieve in her career.
Caroline has worked on a variety of contracts and plumbing disciplines; she has recently qualified as a bona fide Plumber after completing her Gas Safe qualifications and now supervises her own young apprentice, who assists her in her role.
Whether fitting bathroom suites, kitchen sinks or maintaining and servicing boilers and domestic appliances – Caroline is your woman. Her Manager, Paul Hutchinson, said: “Caroline has proved to be a very capable Plumber, she has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and our clients love her. Caroline has worked extremely hard to succeed in what is historically a male dominated environment – but she has proved that with hard work and commitment it is possible to succeed in your chosen career. Caroline is also a fantastic ambassador for the Company”.
Many congratulations go to Caroline on her success at the Awards Ceremony, it is just reward indeed for her exceptional effort. We also wish her the best of luck with her continued studies for a HNC in Building Services.
