Gus Robinson Developments Limited would like to congratulate everyone involved in bringing the Tall Ships 2010 event to Hartlepool. The 4-day event was a massive success, with Hartlepool Mail reporting close to one million visitors to the Town, generating an estimated £16m in revenue.
With an event of this magnitude there were bound to be some niggles, but these were minimal. In fact there was adequate parking, all walking routes were clearly marked and Hartlepool was more than able to accommodate the number of visitors. All of the traffic through the town was kept to a steady flow and diversions were kept to a minimum, which ensured the town didn’t come to a standstill as some pessimists were predicting pre-event. Taking all the aforementioned ‘plus points’ into account it is evident that the event organisers have done themselves and the Town proud, hopefully this will be taken into consideration when Hartlepool apply to hold the event again.
Aside from the Tall Ships, many visitors also came to see a host of bands that were playing throughout the event. Many local bands were playing and some big names also made an appearance, with the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, Echo and the Bunnymen and The Doves to name a few. There was also a World Market, numerous parades and many theatrical performances during the course of the event, ensuring that there was continual entertainment taking place – and catering for a wide variety of tastes.
Gus Robinson Developments Limited hope Hartlepool are successful in bringing the Tall Ships back to the Town, or at least are able to organise an annual event of similar sorts, as obviously this can only be good for the Town’s reputation and it’s people.
